[Intheloop] Oct-Nov exhibition, opening reception on Saturday Nov 1st, 7-9pm

The Oct-Nov exhibition at the Gallery is now up, featuring Leif Ostlund
“New Works” (oil paintings, main gallery) and Liz-Anna Waugh “Of Bees &
Trees” (encaustic paintings, mini-gallery).


SHOW DATES: October 28-November 26, 2014.


PLEASE  NOTE that the opening reception is on Saturday November 1st,
7pm-9pm, so as not to clash with Hallowe’en! Both artists will be there, we
hope you will come and join us for a fun social evening. Admission is free
and everyone is welcome. Appetizers are provided.

Leif Ostlund’s vigorous brushwork and luminous palette give his paintings a
signature striking appearance. Born in Prince George, BC, Ostlund
has been painting for more than three decades. His mother and his uncle
(Dave Nehring, who is well known to the Bulkley Valley), both accomplished
artists, provided him with a rich, informal training before he went on to
attend the Ontario College of Art in Toronto where he graduated with
honours and two scholarships.



Liz-Anna Waugh is exhibiting a melange of colourful works which represent
an evolution of encaustic styles and techniques. Encaustic painting, also
known as hot wax painting, is an ancient technique using heated beeswax and
tree resin to which colored pigments are added. Waugh is from Southbank, BC.
