Dance artist and performer Tara Cheyenne and composer Marc Stewart will be

facilitating collaborative performances. This two-week residency begins
with the Goggles performance on Wednesday, May 30, 7:30 p.m. at the Della
Herman Theatre. Come out and get inspired! Then learn to develop your own
characters, collaboratively compose music for dance, and have fun with
family-friendly opportunities for parents and kids to move together. Anyone
interested, curious, inspired, looking for inspiration, or just wanting to
move and explore “the characters lurking within” is welcome to join these
artists-in-residence for workshops. No experience necessary!

The residency starts with talks from several artists and the opportunity to

anything else that comes up.

During several weekend sessions and early evening sessions, Tara will lead
the community in making an original dance-theatre piece. We are inviting
anyone interested, curious, inspired, wanting inspiration, wanting to move
etc. to come and explore your own inner voice through movement. Tara works
in space between theatre and dance, and loves to help people explore the
characters lurking within. She believes that we are all made up of many
'people,' attitudes, experiences, and beliefs that can translate into
exciting new characters. The workshops will culminate in an informal
performance on June 9. Tara will facilitate the expression of each person
as well as design the work for performance. This is a great opportunity to
explore your own voice through movement and learn skills. No experience
necessary!

*WORKSHOPS FOR FAMILIES: *

Adults & kids ages new born – 5 years

Expressive Pandemonium/Chaos Workshops

• Friday, June 1, 10-11am, St. James Anglican Church Hall

• Monday, June 11, 10-11 a.m., St. James Anglican Church Hall

• Please Register

For all those parents out there who wish they could dance around more but
“it’s hard to do stuff without the little one,” Tara will be leading two
workshops in "creative pandemonium" or "expressive chaos." Dancing with our
little ones to connect, move, get the kinks out of that sore parent body
and groove to some fun tunes. Bring a blanket for the small person and wear
clothes you can move in. No experience necessary!

*MUSICIANS - COME COMPOSE*

Marc will be creating an original score for the piece that we create during
the residency in the Community Workshop Series. By seeing what the dancers
are creating and collaborating with Tara, Marc will be create something
unique and special for the piece that will emerge. Marc will be in and out
of the studio with the dancers and will also be available as he works, each
afternoon, to anyone interested in his process. The score might involve
recorded voices, ambient sounds from the area, electronic music, acoustic
music-we might even draw in some local musicians to record or play live.
The exciting part here is that we really don't know what will happen
because it will be a beautiful alchemy of all those involved. Marc has a
very responsive and sensitive way of making sound for dance and is always
full of surprises. Contact Miriam Colvin to get involved:

*OTHER RESIDENCY ACTIVITIES*

During the days, Tara will be working on her newest piece Highgate (based
on Victorian funerary culture), which will premiere in Vancouver in April
2013. These work sessions are open to anyone interested in the process.
Tara is also keen to interview local community member on their feelings
around death in our culture—Tara loves open discussion and feels it is the
basis for good art marking. So let’s talk and dance.
